Wanda Lynn Halcomb, age 70, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 17th, 2025, at her residence. Born to the late Walter and Lillian Finley Bailey, Wanda brought warmth, joy, and a touch of loving bossiness to all who knew her.
A devoted homemaker, Wanda possessed a gift for transforming her house into a home. She had an eye for interior decorating and took particular delight in holiday preparations, especially at Christmas, when her home became a magical "Santa land" that welcomed all who entered. Her green thumb was equally impressive as she found deep satisfaction in tending her flower and vegetable gardens, finding peace and purpose in working with her hands and watching things grow.
Wanda's evenings were often spent enjoying her favorite television shows, particularly "The Golden Girls" and anything featuring Matt Dillon, the actor she playfully admitted to having a lifelong crush on. But what truly made Wanda's heart full was connection. She loved staying in touch with family and friends through phone calls, making sure no one felt forgotten or alone.
Those who loved Wanda knew her joyful spirit and loving attitude, but they also knew that when the situation called for it, she could be delightfully bossy, a trait that came from her deep care for those around her and her desire to see things done right.
Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Ray Halcomb, Jr.; her brothers, Glendon Bailey, Johnny Bailey, and Matthew Bailey; and her sisters, Betty Blanton, Sandy Bailey, and Christina Davis.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughter, Amanda Halcomb; her son, Kenneth Halcomb; her brother, Albert Crabtree; her sisters, Helen Bailey, Carol Madden, Linda Halcomb, Janie Wells, Alice Board, and Gladys Boggs; and her beloved little fur baby, Rowdy, who was her faithful companion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20th, at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.
Cumberland Valley Funeral Home is honored to serve the Halcomb and Bailey families during this difficult time.
