Vonda Estelle Lewis

Vonda Estelle Lewis, age 83 of Big Jakes Branch, Gordon, KY passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 23, 1941, to the union of the late Estil & Lucille Strunk Thompson.

Vonda was a homemaker who loved flower gardening, crocheting, painting portraits, and spending time with her family. She was an amazing cook; her strawberry cheesecakes were a hit at church functions. She enjoyed red velvet cake, and sitting on her porch on a beautiful summer day. 

She was a member of the Kings Creek Community Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star #564. Vonda was a faithful Christian that loved the Lord and reading her Bible. She enjoyed sharing her life stories about her and her late husband Morris, who passed away on February 7, 2022. When asked, what were her greatest accomplishments? She said, “that’s an easy one, my children, all of my family.” “They are all doing well for themselves and Morris and I were so blessed, not too many people can say that!” “Yes, God has been so merciful and so good to us all.”

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Morris Lewis, brothers, Allen and Larry Thompson.

Survivors include two sons, Randall (Sandra) Lewis, Hyden, KY, Robert (Willa) Lewis, Whitesville, NC; two daughters, Pamela (Fred) Frazier, Gordon, KY, Lora (Jack) Short, Beattyville, KY, sister, Wilma Thompson, Somerset, KY, ten grandchildren, Dustin Asher, David Short, Randall Lee Lewis II, Justin Gross, Reagan Weedman, Brett Gross, Kyle Lewis, Andrew Lewis, Suzannah Frazier, Isaiah Short, great grandchildren; Rory Weedman, Ruth Weedman, John Cameron and Bailey Gross, a host of other relatives and friends. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 11th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Randall Lewis officiating.
Burial will be held Wednesday, February 12th, at 10 a.m. at the Morris Lewis Cemetery at Gordon, Kentucky.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
