Vickie Foutch Obituary

Vickie Foutch, age 77, of Cumberland, Kentucky entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 18th, 2024, at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born on June 20, 1946, in Lynch, Kentucky to the union of the late Earl Winston and Elizabeth Hoskins Yeary.

Upon graduation from Cumberland High School in 1964, Vickie received training in business at Southeast Community College in Cumberland.   With that training, she began a career with the Kentucky Department of Revenue and the Kentucky State Health Department in Frankfort.  After three years on the job, she was ready to return to Cumberland and began a position at the Daniel Boone Clinic in Harlan in the business office.   After a few years there, she transferred closer to home and began working for Lynch Medical Services.   She then began employment at the Mountain Trails Health Plan.

For the next several years, following the death of her husband in a coal mining accident, Vickie didn’t work, but instead focused her attention on her son, parents and other family.  She then re-entered the workforce and from 1992 to 1997, she was the office manager for C&N Computer Associates in Cumberland.

On February 24, 1997, Vickie became a charter employee at the newly opened, Britthaven Nursing Home in Cumberland.  Vickie continued in this position as Payroll Supervisor for 27 years until her health forced her into medical leave.   As the payroll coordinator for the now Tri-Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Vickie was the face many employees saw first and dealt with often.   Because of her previous jobs in the medical field, Vickie knew many people in the community and was a familiar face to those visiting the nursing home.   She always had a warm smile and a loving sentiment to brighten one’s day.

She was a devoted member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church.  Vickie was all business when it came to her occupational duties but was her happiest when being a mother and grammy.  She was so proud of her son and grandsons. She was thankful for every minute she got to spend with them.   She loved her sisters and brothers and cherished her time with them as well.  Vickie was known for being a wonderful cook, some say her boneless ribs with vegetables and homemade cabbage rolls was second to none.  She built a strong, loving foundation, full of memories, laughter and good times.  She was a special member of our community and her absence will forever be a loss.

She is preceded in death, other than her parents, by her husband, Arthur Foutch.

She leaves to mourn her passing, son, Ed (Tammy) Rutherford and her two grandsons, Jackson and Parker, who loved their “Grammy” with all their heart, sisters, Earlene (Anthony) Fernicola, Marie (Adair) Hoskins, brothers, Winston (Vicella) Yeary, John (Gina) Yeary, a host of nieces, nephews, work friends, whom she considered family, other friends and relatives.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Bluegrass Care Navigators for such wonderful care given to Vickie.  Their professional, caring staff went above and beyond all expectations and for that, they are eternally grateful.

A Celebration of Life of her life will be held Thursday, February 22nd, at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. with Funeral Services starting at 7 p.m. with Elder Glenn Cornett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make all contributions and donations in Vickie’s name to the Bluegrass Care Navigators at 1733 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40504.
