Thomas D. “Tom” Cornett, age 74 of Cumberland, Kentucky, entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, November 14, 2020.
Tom was born on October 2, 1946, unto the loving union of the late Green and Rose Lewis Cornett in Cumberland, KY. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, where he served his Country proud. He had studied electronics prior to enlisting and later in life, became the owner and operator of Cornetts Electronics. He supplied and serviced Police, Fire and E.M.S. with communication equipment in several states and local counties. He was a devoted member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church and was an honorable member and volunteer of the Cumberland Fire Department from 1962 until 2014. He was an upstanding member of the community and his departing has left a void in our hearts.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Lynn Parrish Cornett.
He leaves behind, daughters, Crystal (Bill) Cornett of Gadsden, Alabama, Sarah (Mark) Saylor of Cumberland, Kentucky, son, Joseph (Rikki) Cornett of Hazard, Kentucky, brother, Ray Cornett of Gig Harbor, Washington, sister, Daisy Ray of Cumberland, Kentucky, seven grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with funeral service following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Greg Shannon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Joe Cornett Cemetery in Linefork, KY.
Fellow Fireman will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donation be made to the Cumberland Methodist Church, Cumberland, KY or to the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, 99 Paige School Road, Pineville, KY 40977.
Anyone attending services must wear a mask or some form of facial covering and practice social distancing.
