It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Mr. Ray Lewis, age 77 years, six months, and twenty-seven days, he passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at his residence in Gordon, Kentucky.
He was born unto the union of the late Henry and Mary Jane Cornett Lewis. He was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Nolen Lodge #806 F & A.M. and Master Mason for over forty years. He served in the United States Armed Forces and was a Vietnam Veteran, he believed in the Baptist faith. Ray partnered with his late brother, Bill in building construction for over thirty-two years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, brother, Billy J. Lewis, sister, Irene Cornett.
Ray leaves to cherish his memory, son, Steve Lewis of Lexington, KY, stepdaughter, Susan Collett of Lynch, KY, sisters, Imogene Halcomb of Williamsburg, KY, Delois Burchfield of Cumberland, KY, Wanda Fox of Gordon, KY, step grandchildren, Ricky Collett, Jonathon Collett and Bailey Taylor, a special friend, Eli Sparkman of Gordon, KY and his dog, Lucy, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home with funeral services immediately following with Mark Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery at Gordon, KY.
As mandated by the Governor of Kentucky, all Covid-19 restrictions will be followed, 60% of building capacity will be allowed, masks or some form of facial covering is required and social distancing.
