Patricia Ellen Cornett

April 21, 1940 ~ July 8, 2023 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Obituary

Patricia E. Cornett entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.   She was born on April 21, 1940, unto the union of the late Barney McCoy and Ruth Belle Peavley Huff in Cumberland, Kentucky.

Pat, as most knew her, was an amazing, caring lady.  She went to school and attained an associate degree and became a social worker, where she worked in Warren County, Ohio and in Harlan County, Kentucky.  She always strived to make a positive difference in people’s lives.  Pat was a generous lady; she believed in helping others less fortunate.  She would literally take the shirt off her back and give someone in need.   She bought many pairs of shoes for people that didn’t have any.   She had previously worked at Whiting Manufacturing and Stearns & Foster Mattress Company, among several other places.    She loved her church family and was a member of the Central Baptist Church, where she could be found decorating, organizing church activities or cleaning.   She was an excellent interior decorator, gardener, crafter, and a wonderful cook, that made a mighty mean cornbread.  Pat had a personality that is unmatched, some would describe her as a “little spitfire.”  She said what she thought and meant what she said.  She loved to talk and tell life stories and could have you bending over with side pain from all the laughter.   She loved her family, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her life.  She was the “Rock” of the family.   She has left a testimony on this earth that would be hard to match, for she was and will always be a “Rare Gem.”

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Cleon Cornett, sister, June Schoonover, brothers, Dickie Leon Huff, Jack Huff, and Barney McCoy Huff, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Michael (Pamela) Cornett, Scott (Jess) Cornett Weber, daughters, Vickie Huff Watters, Sara Lynn (Tim) Gillespie, Elizabeth Ann (Larry) Hamilton, Kimberly North Krouse, sisters, Jane Neverstitch, Bettie Sue Clark, Genny Ophalia (Ron) Rhinehart, Shirley Vann, special niece, Kathy Mullendore, special friends, Wilma Fields and Judy Letanosky, grandchildren, Joshua (Bailey) Cornett, Dustin (Wendi) Cornett, Wendy Nicole (Preston) Pierce, Nicholas Krouse, Jennifer (Marc) Hamilton, Amie (Chris) Bennett, Taylor (Garrett) Keating, Renee (Dennis) O’Rourke, Shaun Casey (Rachel) Vann, Lindsey Coulter, Timberly Lambert, great grandchildren, Destiny Cornett, Hunter Cornett, Colton Cornett, Olivia Pierce, Cassandra Hamilton, Makayla Hamilton, Lilly Fredrick, Vinyard Bennett, Benny Bennett, Preston Keating, Conner Keating, Owen Hamilton, Isla Coulter, a host of other relatives and friends.
