Marsezelle Boggs Davis, age 78, of Partridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at The Greg and Noreen Wells Bluegrass Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky with her cherished daughter by her side.
Marsezelle, or Marcie, to most that knew her, was born on October 5, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan to the late James Jefferson and Estelle Bibbs Boggs. She married the love of her life, the late Roger Lee Davis on July 7, 1979. Together they welcomed their daughter, Kristina Joy (Krissy) who they loved beyond measure, and spent the next 30 years supporting, loving and arguing politics with until Roger passed in April 2009.
Marcie spent her life working in two different fields. She worked as a nanny and also spent 15 years working underground as a Coal Miner for US Steel and Arch of Kentucky Coal Company. Marcie was a wonderful nanny and was loved by all the children whom she cared for over the many years. Marcie truly cared about each child as an individual, and did her best to teach them all kindness, generosity and respect for others. However, nothing could prepare her for the true joy she found in being "Granny Marse" to her granddaughters, Emily and Abigail Gibbs. Becoming a grandmother was her proudest accomplishment and she took every opportunity to show Emily and Abby how much she adored them. Marcie practiced what she preached in showing kindness, generosity and love to those around her and truly enjoyed taking care of others. She was thankful for the life God had blessed her with and never hesitated to tell those around her that she loved them.
Marcie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger and brothers James Boggs and George Boggs as well as Mother and father-in-law, Curtis and Ella Mae Davis and brother-in-law, Curtis Davis, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Krissy, son-in-law, Tim and granddaughters Emily and Abby Gibbs, along with her close friend of over 50 years, Nancy Cravens Woosley. Also left to mourn her passing are other friends, neighbors and extended family members who will treasure the light and joy she brought to their lives.
Per Marcie's request there will be no funeral service held. A private graveside service will be conducted in honor of her wishes. Tim and Krissy kindly ask that no food or flowers be sent, however, if you feel led to do something, please donate in her Honor and Memory to The Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center or your local Hospice Family Kitchen.
