It is with much sadness that I will try to write an obituary to honor the memory of Makayla Ann Gilliam. Our precious angel was born on November 6, 2003 in Lexington, Ky to Christy Gilliam. Makayla gained her wings and took her Heavenly flight home on September 12, 2021 at her home in Cumberland, Ky with her loved ones by her side.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her mommy Christy Gilliam of Cumberland, Ky, her nana, Ann Dobos Sexton of Cumberland, Ky, papaw, Bobby Sexton of Dione, Ky, an aunt Reba Johnson Lewis, of Cumberland, Ky, great aunts, Mary Lawson of Nicholasville, Ky, Norma Dobos, of Cumberland, Ky, and Sharon Dobos of Panama City Beach, Florida. She also leaves 2 special cousins Amber Shaddix and Adeline Lewis as well as her fur babies Sami and Mollie and many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Makayla was one of the sweetest girls you could ever meet. She had a smile that would light up any room and the sweetest giggle you would ever want to hear. The highlights of her day were listening to music with mommy, snuggling in her bed with mommy watching tv or just sharing hugs and laughs, visits from Nana & Papaw; oh the giggles and grins she’d share when nana came in asking where her Boo Boo was, which was her nickname for Makayla, or Papaw’s voice as he walked in yelling for his Tater Bug. She loved the company of her fur babies laying on the couch or nearby as if they were watching over her. Our sweet girl loved visits from family and friends who came by to say hello and was always ready for her goodnight calls from Papaw and her before bedtime video chats with nana.
Makayla was and always will be Mommy’s angel and very best friend. She taught mommy what unconditional love really is. She and her mommy shared a very special bond that will be cherished forever. Makayla will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
On behalf of Makayla’s mommy, nana, and papaw thank you from the bottom of our hearts to great aunt Mary for being there through everything, thank you to everyone for every thought and prayer, but most importantly, we thank God for the precious gift he gave us the day Makayla was born. Our loss is truly Heaven’s gain but we will see our baby again someday.
To Makayla’s family, friends, and neighbors, in her honor we ask for you to say a special prayer.
Rest easy with the angels sweet girl, you will always be loved and will never be forgotten.
