Maggie Elizabeth Morris, being blessed with 94 years of age, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the Letcher Manor Nursing Home in Whitesburg, Kentucky.
She was born in Lynch, Kentucky, on March 27, 1929, to the union of Lawrence Tinsley and Cleo Gist. She graduated in 1947, from the Lynch Colored High School, where she was proud to be a "Pirate". She lived most of her life in Chicago, Illinois, where she was a retired secretary for Sears and Roebuck Company and a member of the A.M.E. Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Locally she retained a membership of the Eastern Kentucky Social Club and was a former member of the Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Maggie enjoyed traveling, cooking, and was known for her famous meat loaf and cabbage, which was known as “the best”. She was an avid Chicago Bulls Fan, and loved spending time with her family. She had a smile that would brighten anyone’s day. Her absence on this earth will forever be felt, but our loss is Heaven’s gain.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Cleo Gist Tinsley, husband, Eddie Morris, sons, Donnie and Ronnie Tinsley, daughters, Wanda Gaines and Sylvia Walker, brothers, Edward, Nathaniel “Pig”, Theodore “Tip”, Lawrence Tinsley, Jr., sister, Ola Mae Tinsley.
She leaves to mourn her passing, son, Terry (Wanda) Tinsley, special niece, Jovetta Jones, special grandsons, Lawrence “Dinky” (Tia) Walker, RahShaun Tinsley, special granddaughters, Lisa Sanders, Teneesha Tinsley and Marisha (Keith) Adams, special friend, Dorothy “Miss Dot” Wilkerson of Lynch, Kentucky, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9th, beginning at 12 noon at the Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 409 First Street, Lynch, Kentucky with Funeral Services beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Hampton officiating.
