John Samuel Adams passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Virginia Adams, brother, Randy Adams. He is survived by one sister, Anna (Tim) Carruba of Lynch.
Left to mourn his passing is his devoted wife, Linda, three children, John Christopher (Danielle) Adams of Lynch, KY, Sarah (Craig) Miller and Samuel Adams of Richmond, KY and a special “son,” Anthony Carruba of Lynch, KY, also surviving are his grandchildren, Kaleb, Ashton, Hunter, Sophia and Kayleigh Adams and Cara Miller, an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and two beloved pets, Chico and Bonnie.
John was a life-long resident of the city of Lynch and graduated from Lynch High School in 1969. He was a graduate of Southeast Community College and University of Virginia at Wise (Clinch Valley College), where he received a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration. He was mayor of Lynch and member of the city council. He was a retired coal miner, who worked for US Steel and Arch Coal. He also served as financial secretary of UMWA Local 7425 and Lynch Burial Fund treasurer. He was a life-long member of the Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Lynch and held positions from bookkeeping to serving on the church council. He loved the city of Lynch and was an avid fan of Kentucky Wildcats and Green Bay Packers. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening with his best friend, Randall Collier.
Rosary services will be held during the family’s private viewing hour on Sunday, August 25th
with visitation beginning at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection in Lynch, KY.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 26th at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Terrence DeSilva officiating.
Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, Ky.
Pallbearers will be Tim Carruba, Randall Collier, Craig Miller, Anthony Carruba, Ashton Adams and Hunter Adams.
