James Roger Blanton, age 73, of Cumberland, Kentucky, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Baxter, Kentucky and was the son of the late Howard and Ruby Blanton. He was a retired long haul truck driver with Road Runner Trucking in San Jose, California. He believed in the Church of God faith and loved talking about the Lord and the blessings received from his Savior, Jesus Christ. James enjoyed family, fishing, hunting, and cooking. He enjoyed a good conversation and loved to talk about his life with his late wife, Joyce.
He shall be missed.
He is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Turner Blanton and brother, Gill Smith.
He is survived by daughters, Sarah Blanton, Joyce Blanton, stepdaughters, Gracie Colinger, Dezzie Mae Cornett, stepson, Marion Gene Colinger, sister, Ruby Johnson, grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Paul Witt, great grandchildren, Bella, Gracelyn, Olivia, Bryson, Natalie and Hazel Witt, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Elder Glenn Cornett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Benham Cemetery in Benham, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
