Ida Belle Payne

Ida Belle Payne, age 92, of Blair, Kentucky, received her Heavenly Reward on Monday,
January 29, 2024, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. 

Belle met and married her first husband, Vernoy Darrell Bolling.  They spent some time in Baltimore, Maryland, where she worked many years at the Philly Pretzel Company.  Later, they migrated back to Harlan County and lived happily until Darrell passed away on August 26, 2000.     Years later, she met and married Hubert C. Payne.   The two loved to sing gospel hymns and worship the Lord.  He passed away on August 8, 2019.    Belle had always been active in her community.  She volunteered and worked at the This and That Store in Benham, Kentucky for many years.  She was a member of the Blair Chapel Church in Blair, Kentucky.   She loved talking about the Lord and sharing her life experiences.  Her favorite song was “Where the Roses Never Fade.”   Belle had a saying, “You can’t enter Heaven with Hate in Your Heart,” “That’s Why I Love Everyone.”   She enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, sewing, watching old Western movies, collecting angels, and most of all, receiving visitors with good conversation.    She had a personality of pure love and a devotion to Jesus Christ.  She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

She is survived by special family, caregiver and friends, Elizabeth Sturgill of Partridge, Kentucky, Crystal Higgins of Eolia, Kentucky, Alberta Bullock of Blair, Kentucky, several nieces, nephews and a host of other friends. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, beginning at 5 p.m. at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Brother Rod Raleigh and Brother Bill Maggard officiating.
 

She will have a private burial at the Mullins Cemetery on Roberts Branch beside her first husband, Vernoy Darrell Bolling.
