Hillard Halcomb entered his Heavenly reward on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the age of ninety-seven years, ten months, and twenty days.
Hillard was a decorated veteran of WW II, having served in the Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a long-time resident of Linefork, Kentucky and believed in the Old Regular Baptist faith. Hillard was a retired coal miner and continuously farmed his land, through and including this year. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking, and working the land.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bea and Minerva Eldridge Halcomb, wife, Vivian Fay.
Hillard is survived by his three daughters, Lenna Veneal Thompson of West Virginia, Margarett Ann Chafin of Linefork, KY, and Frances Allene Collins of Tennessee. He had six grandchildren, Willard Mac Thompson, Teresa Faye McCormick, Chester Blaine Chafin, JR, C. Curtis Collins, Sarah E. Kostuch, and Candis A. Collins, and eight great grandchildren, Tabitha Fay Farley, Tonya Nichole McCormick, Natalie Grove, C. Blaine Chafin III, Hillarie Claire Chafin, Nico James Kostuch, Luca Anthony Kostuch, and Giuliana Marie Kostuch.
Hillard was a friend and neighbor to all for many years. His light in the world and our lives will be missed.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home with Funeral services following at 1 p.m. with Brother Clyde Bentley officiating.
Burial will be in the Hillard Halcomb Cemetery in Linefork, KY.
Anyone planning on attending services must wear some form of facial covering/mask and practice social distancing.
