Gloria Faye Lewis

Gloria Faye Lewis, age 74, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026, surrounded by her family at Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky, following a long illness. She was a woman who filled every room with warmth, wisdom, and a little bit of fire and the world is undeniably quieter without her in it.
 

Born to the union of the late Arden and Gertrude Morgan Gross in Vicco, Kentucky, Gloria grew up rooted in the hills and heritage of Eastern Kentucky. Those roots ran deep, shaping her into a woman of remarkable strength, deep faith, and a love for home that never wavered.
 

Gloria was, in every sense, one of a kind. Her family lovingly describes her as having a spicy, spunky side and they mean that as the highest compliment. She was delightfully opinionated, and if you asked for her thoughts, she gave them freely and honestly. If you weren't ready for the truth, you learned quickly not to ask! Her candor was wrapped in love, and those who knew her best treasured that straightforwardness as one of her greatest gifts.
 

A dedicated homemaker, Gloria was no stranger to hard work. She kept a yard adorned with beautiful flowers, transforming her home into a colorful, welcoming haven. She also poured herself into raising a garden each season, nurturing the earth and feeding her family with her own two hands. There was a quiet dignity in the way she cared for her home, she made it a place where love grew alongside the marigolds.
 

Gloria was a woman of faith, grounded in the Pentecostal tradition she held dear. Her belief was not simply something she professed, it was something she lived. Her faith was the foundation beneath everything she did and everyone she loved.
 

To her children, Gloria was simply the best, their mother and their best friend all in one. She loved them with a fierce, unconditional devotion. But if her children were the joy of her heart, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light in her eyes. There was nothing quite like the happiness they brought her. She treasured every single one.
 

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnnie Paul Lewis, and her brother, Burchell Gross. 
 

She leaves behind, three loving children: Paula (Silas) Dixon of Cumberland, Kentucky; Angela Gadow of Williamsburg, Kentucky; and Gary (Tonya) Lewis of Sevierville, Tennessee, brothers: Jimmy Gross of Hillsville, Virginia and David Gross of Harlan, Kentucky, sisters: June Day of UZ, Kentucky, and Ann Gibson of Liberty, Kentucky, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, a host of other cherished relatives and dear friends.
 

In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, there will be no formal service at this time. However, her family is planning a Celebration of Life in the summer, a gathering that promises to be every bit as warm, spirited, and full of love as she was.
 

She planted flowers, she fed her family, she spoke her mind, and she loved without reservation. Her garden will bloom again in summer, and so will the memories.
