Gary W. Cress, age 63, of Gordon, Kentucky, entered eternal peace on Friday, August 23, 2019,
at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 22, 1956, unto the union of the late Vincent and Martha Griffith Cress in Jackson County, Kentucky. He believed in the Church of God Faith. He was a retired coal miner for James River Coal Company.
Gary enjoyed the outdoors. He loved his trips to Tennessee, fishing on the boat for hours. He loved hunting, four-wheeling, but most importantly, he loved his family. He relished the time with his beautiful grandchildren and the memories they made together.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Josie Williams, Mary Smith and Sue Shepherd.
Gary’s departing has left a void in the lives of his wife, Debra Cress, sons, Gary Shawn (Heather) Cress and Nicholas Cress all of Gordon, KY, brothers, H.C. Cress of Speedwell, Tennessee, Steve (Amy) Cress of Ypsilanti, Michigan, sisters, Betty McNulty of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Vada (Ron) Winebarger of Temperance, Michigan, grandchildren, Shawnee, Conner, Mylee, Benjamin and Arabella.
Gary was a wonderful man that will not only be missed by his family, but his friends as well.
Brother Glenn Cornett will be the officiating minister.
