Frances D. Sturgill, age 83, peacefully entered her Heavenly home on Sunday, May 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 16, 1938, unto the union of the late Leonard and Parilee Maggard Gilliam in Cumberland, Kentucky. She was a Charter member of Rockvine Baptist Church, a devoted Christian and knew the Bible like no other. She was a loving, caring, devoted, strong figure in all aspects of her life. She had a giving heart and her passion for her beliefs created a faith based foundation that poured unto her entire family and everyone she met. She enjoyed life and simple things, such as watching her hummingbird sanctuary built by her family. She will be sadly missed, but this world is better for have had her for just a little while.
Frances was married fifty-six glorious years to her late husband, Daniel, also preceding in death, son, Danny Sturgill, brothers, John D., Ercell, Ronald, and Hubert Gilliam, sisters, Carol Jean, Bessie, and Faye Gilliam, Peggy Lewis, Leona Lyons, Ali Halcomb.
Left to mourn her passing, children, Dorothy (Mike) Franks of Cumberland, KY, Lisa (Ronald) Scott and Carolyn (Jerry) Dinsmore all of Partridge, KY, Ronald (Marla) Sturgill of Cumberland, KY, Claudia (Gary) Eldridge of Morristown, Tennessee, sister, Freda Trammell of Benham, KY, a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild, special life-long friend, Earl Kilgore of Glen Burnie, Maryland, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home in Cumberland, Kentucky. Visitation will also be Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at the Rockvine Baptist Church in Partridge, KY beginning at 12 noon until the funeral hour of 2 p.m. with Brothers' Roger Jones, Billy Boggs and Pastor Jason Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in the Maggard Cemetery in Partridge, KY.
Pallbearers will be Mike Franks, Jeremy Franks, Jesse Franks, Zach Dinsmore, Mark Scott, Dustin Scott, Russell Cole, Josh Goode.
