Dorothy Mae Hollitt, age 76 of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
Dorothy was born on May 25, 1944, to the late Allie Gilliam Halcomb in Benham, Kentucky. She believed in the Church of God faith. She was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where she served in the United States Armed Forces, as a medical assistant. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. She retired as a licensed practical nurse, having worked at the Emergency Department at Lonesome Pine Hospital, Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital and American Nursing for a total of twenty-eight years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her Uncle, Ronald Gilliam and Aunt, Carol Gilliam.
She is survived by her sister, Lana (Bill) McCluskey of Petersburg, Kentucky, Aunts, Freda (Doug) Trammell of Benham, Kentucky and Francis Sturgill of Cumberland, Kentucky, several nieces, nephews and other relatives are left to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 beginning at 11 a.m. with Funeral Services at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home with Bro. Glenn Cornett officiating.
A private burial will take place at the D.L. Creech in Cumberland, Kentucky.
Anyone planning on attending services must wear some form of facial covering or mask and practice social distancing.
