Donald Cardell Massey, Sr.

Donald Cordell Massey, Sr., age 65, of Lynch, Kentucky, gained his Heavenly reward on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.  He entered eternal peace at his residence with family by his side.  
He was born September 14, 1955, unto the union of the late Edward L. Sr. and Queen DeLois Davis Massey.    He was a graduate of Lynch High School and had attended the Vocational and Technical College in Harlan, KY.   He had worked the majority of his life as a coal miner for Arch of Kentucky.   He was always on the go and found himself working at Southern Wholesale, being a caregiver to the local elderly and most recently, a bus driver for the Harlan County Board of Education. 

Donald was anchored in his faith, having been brought up in a Christian faith-based home, his entire family was blessed with the gift of song.  He was a member of the Spirituals Singing group, Deacon and member of The Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and choir, active member of the Missionary work at Solomon's Porch and First Priority Program with the school system   Donald always had the most infectious smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.  Donald was known for being a giver.   He gave his entire heart, love and life to God.  He prayed for people no matter where they were, in a grocery store, park or church.  He was one of the strongest men.  When his health began to decline, one could ask, "How are you today, Donald?", he would say, "Blessed and Highly Favored!"  He loved his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters with all his heart.   This community has lost a pillar of its foundation and we will grieve his death, but be thankful for his mark on this earth.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Fredrick and Ronnie Massey.

Left to cherish and honor his memory, daughter, Quanikwa Massey of Lynch, KY, sons, Donald Massey, Jr. of Richmond, KY, Desnick Allen of Lexington, KY, Roderick Benson of Lynch, KY, Mother of his children, Wilma Massey of Lexington, KY, sisters, Ethel (Dennis) Massey Tate of Milwaukee, WI, Catherine (Freddie) Johnson of Milwaukee, WI, Ruby (Walter) Ravizee of Cumberland, KY, Theresa (Steve) Kyle of Lynch, KY, brothers, Edward ( Rose) Massey of Evansville, IN, Bennie Massey of Lynch, KY, George ( Andrea) Massey of Benham, KY, Jerry (Audrey) Massey of Evarts, KY, grandchildren, Brayden, Gianna, and Isiah Massey, Kashten and Kaisen Lewis, Tavian, Jeremiah, Sameeha, Bethaney, Aiden Mallory, and William Austin.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 2021, beginning at 11 a.m. with funeral services following at 12 noon, at the Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Hampton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, KY.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
