Darrell Lacy Hobbs, age 70 of Cumberland, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, May 29th, 2023, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital in Harlan, Kentucky.
He was born to the union of the late Lacy and Phyllis Ann Mounts Hobbs in Dunlap, Tennessee on July 1, 1952. Darrell served his country in the Armed Military Forces from 1960 to 1964. In 1970, he began working for the state highway department, he left there in 1972, and became a coal miner for Scotia Mines, where he was severely injured in a roof collapse and became disabled. In earlier years, he attended the Central Baptist Church and believed in the Baptist faith. He enjoyed music, attending concerts, motorcycles, fishing, family gatherings at the lake with an occasional cook out. He will be missed.
He is also preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Niece Hobbs, daughters, Heather Hobbs Polly, and Holly Hobbs Powell.
Left to cherish his memory, a son, Jordan Darrell Hobbs of Cumberland, Kentucky, daughter, Paige Lewis of Cumberland, Kentucky, brother, Ricky Thomas Green of Piedmont, South Carolina, sisters, Janice Hobbs Cornett of Dunlap, Tennessee, Ramona Green Blakeman of Piedmont, South Carolina, sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Hiram, Kentucky.
