Charles "Chuck" Rice

Charles “Chuck” Rice, age 53, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 12th, 2024, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. 

He was born to the union of Ruben and Johnny Jean Deal Rice on August 2, 1970.  He had worked at the Shell Mart and as a maintenance worker for the City of Cumberland.  He believed in the Pentecostal Faith. 

Chuck never met a stranger and was always good to everyone.  He loved taking selfies with friends and savored a good conversation.  He was an honest man that would give the shirt off his back to accommodate someone in need.  He enjoyed shooting his cross bow and pellet gun, fishing, turkey hunting, playing the drums, but most of all, talking about the Lord.   He loved his family with all his heart.  
He always had a way of bringing a smile to your face with his joking personality and candid sense of humor.  If you were lucky enough to be his friend, then you were blessed.  He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.   He will truly be missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ruben Rice, daughter, Whitney Rice.

Chuck is survived by his loving mother, Johnny Jean Deal Rice, devoted wife, Carol, daughter, Amber (George) Holland, step-son, Greg Addington, step-daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Sturgill, Diane Addington, brothers, Rick (Sabrina) Rice, Auburn (Heather) Rice, sister, Ruby (Howard) Hall, grandchildren, Tabitha, Gabe, Jessie, George Ruben Holland, Christian and Paiton Rice, step-grandchildren, Sierra Morton, Sabrina Caudill, a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, beginning at 12 noon with services at 2 p.m. with Brother Billy Lewis officiating at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made here on our website or directly to the funeral home to help with funeral expense.
