Charity Lynn Sheeks, 46, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at her residence. Born on January 19, 1979, in Harlan, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Douglas Arthur Johnson and the late Sherry Lynn Johnson.
Throughout her existence, Charity touched many lives through her work and entrepreneurial spirit. She had served her community as a certified nursing assistant, worked as a cashier at Food City, and brought warmth to customers as a waitress at Charlotte's Hoagie Shop. She took great pride in being the former owner of Charity's Candle Shop in Cumberland, Kentucky, where she shared her creative spirit with others.
Charity had a deep love for nature and the outdoors, always paying respect and homage to the gifts that nature had to offer. She found joy in riding around and taking in all the wonders this world had to offer, appreciating beauty in everyday moments. She had a passion for writing poetry and drawing and loved to sing. Her creative soul and artistic spirit were evident in everything she did.
Full of life and always striving to make people laugh and smile, Charity was the heartbeat of her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren, Amelia and Cruz, who were the light of her life. She had a particular fondness for a big cold glass of Mountain Dew with pebble-sized ice, which was her favorite, as she always said.
Charity was legendary at family gatherings, where she was infamous for two things: her delicious Cowboy Beans that everyone looked forward to, and for always being fashionably late. But that was simply who she was, and those who loved her wouldn't have had it any other way. Her essence was pure joy, and her life was a gift to all who knew her. The laughter, love, and light she brought into this world will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Lynn Johnson, and her brother, Douglas Anthony Johnson.
Charity leaves behind to cherish her memory: her father, Douglas Arthur Johnson; sons Riley Sheeks and Bo Duff; daughter Trinity Sheeks; sisters Teresa Johnson and Star White; grandchildren Amelia Duff and Cruz Sheeks; a special cousin whom she loved like a brother, Bart Gilliam; her boyfriend, Wesley Tippett, special friends Tootsie Casolari and Melissa Foster; her beloved fur babies, her cats; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cumberland Valley Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
