Billy Joe Lewis, age 73, of Gordon, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Cancer Center, in Hazard, KY.
He was born on June 18, 1945, unto the union of the late Henry and Mary Jane Cornett Lewis.
He was a forty-two year member of Nolen Lodge #806 F & A.M., Past Master of Nolen Lodge #806
F & A.M., Past Grand, JR Deacon of Grand Lodge of KY F & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master, District #40, Past Ambassador to Masonic Homes of KY, an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and had partnered with his brother, Ray Lewis, in building construction, for over thirty-two years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Lewis Cornett.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of fifty-three years, Grace Boggs Lewis of Gordon, KY, son, Ricky Lee Lewis of Hickory, NC, grandsons, Brandon (Kayla) Lewis of Boone, NC, Patrick Lewis of Hickory, NC,
great grandchildren, Sydnee and Mason Lewis of Boone, NC, sisters, Imogene Halcomb of Williamsburg, KY, Delois Birchfield of Cumberland, KY, and Wanda (Darrell) Fox of Gordon, KY, brother, Ray Lewis of Gordon, KY, a host of nieces, nephews and other family are left to mourn his passing.
