Betty Ann Sturgill Stagnolia

Betty Ann Sturgill Stagnolia, 85, of Cumberland, KY gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. She was born on November 13, 1939, in Letcher County, KY.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Callie Sumpter Sturgill, two sisters, Charlotte Doris Sturgill Rasnick, Davetta Louise Sturgill Dobb, and one brother, Michael David Sturgill. Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, Eugene “Blue” Stagnolia. Daughters, Angela Stagnolia Burson and husband Mike of Springboro, Ohio; Kelli Stagnolia Early and husband Chris of Cumberland, KY; Kristi Stagnolia Holloway and husband Larry of Gallatin, TN., grandchildren, Taylor Burson Whipp (Corey); Jared Burson (Michelle); Nicholas Early (Brooke); Colin Early (Chelsea); Andrew Whitehead (Madison); Joshua Whitehead (Ariana); Brenna Early (Joe Torres), her grand fur baby, Roscoe “Rossi.”

Betty began her working career as City Clerk for the City of Cumberland for 10 years. She went on to become the Executive Assistant to the President of Southeast Community College UK and retired after 23 years of dedicated service.

Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and sewing. Her favorite of them being quilting. She was also a member of Nifty Needles and attended The Homemakers Club for many years. Betty was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Blair Chapel Church. She had a Love for the Lord and always said, “The Lord has blessed me beyond words.” She loved all her Grandchildren greatly.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Blair Chapel Church beginning at 11 a.m.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Rod Raleigh officiating.

Burial will be in the Jacob Creech Cemetery in Cumberland, KY.
Pallbearers will be Jared Burson, Nicholas Early, Colin Early, Andrew Whitehead, Joshua Whitehead, Corey Whipp.
