Bernard “Junior” Graham Barker, age 79, of Cumberland, Kentucky passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his residence. He was the son of the late Bernard and Gladys Penley Barker.
Bernard was a retired, self-employed coal truck driver for various companies. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He was a long-time resident of Harlan County, believed in God and enjoyed reading the Bible. He had a Holistic approach to living, forging the mountains for plants, herbs and roots to heal many ailments, a gift that he had acquired from past generations of family members. He enjoyed gardening, listening to his favorite styles of jazz and bluegrass music. He liked cooking and made pretty good meals. He had a great sense of humor that often led to pranks and jokes. He thought they were funny, if he was the one pranking, and not being pranked. He was friendly, kind, caring, loving and an all-around great guy. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. His memory will carry on through the love of his family and friends.
Other than his parents, Junior was also preceded in death by his brother, Doug Barker, sisters, Lola Carol Hall, Wanda Halcomb, and Vivian Barker.
He leaves behind a son, Brent (Donetta) Barker of Liberty, South Carolina, daughters, Brooke Barker of Richmond, Kentucky, Victoria (Zach) Dinsmore of Partridge, Kentucky, Ancella Chisom of Ruben Gap, Georgia, brother, David Barker of Cumberland, Kentucky, grandchildren; Jazmin Knight, Jada Jackson, Janah Barker, Ava Dinsmore, Lydia Dinsmore, Noah Barker, Ava Barker, Foster Lucas, Lakin Howard, Corey Mounts, Alex Reynolds, Kaleb Chisom, James Gragg, Angelique Gragg, Joshua Gragg, great grandchildren; Rayven Hall, Reid Hall, Braxton Brewer, Jocelyn Barker, Silas Howard, Penny Howard, Finley Howard, Juniper Howard, Lily Lucas and Eli Mounts, a host of other relatives and friends.
In respecting Mr. Barkers wishes, there was a private family viewing, and there will
be no public services.
